The full closure of Harbor Drive (between the Convention Center and the waterfront amenities) during SDCC has been in place every year since 2018 mainly for pedestrian safety and security. A major reason many longtime attendees point to is the tragic death of Gisela Gagliardi, a 53-year-old accountant from Kingston, New York, who was struck and killed by a car on July 10, 2012, while crossing Harbor Drive to hold her place in the Twilight panel line. That incident highlighted how dangerous the busy road could be for the huge crowds, and the later permanent closures finally addressed those risks.
Couldn't make it to Con this year so I've been watching everything online. This is hands down one of the best videos seen. Great job!

I used to go to SDCC every year. Haven't been to one for years now. I see they have expanded beyond the convention. That is very nice. Thanks for the video. Very informative.

last time I was able to go to San Diego comic con, I 16 in 2014. It was pretty amazing, I just remember it being super crowded lol. However I am a convention veteran at anime expo going the last few years in a row. I hope to go to comic con next year or the year after.

If you crave more, head over to the Ninja Expo at Carlsbad Shopping Town, open each weekend, near Hwy 78 and El Camino Real, just East of the 5. The expo is in the old Sears store, West end of the mall. You can also take the Coaster to Carlsbad, and a short ride on the 315 bus will get you there, quick. Open 3 to 9 Friday, all day Sat, till 6pm Sunday.

Glad they still have venues centered around actual comics, when I hear ComicCon I almost don't even associated it with comics since it's become so much more over the years. We need to support the comic creators as their jobs have become increasingly tougher to monetize.
