  1. This show has the odd ability to make a 35 year old man from northern Sweden blush and giggle, damn it's good!
EDIT: Oh, and the grandpa didn't slip on the stockings, he fell from shock lol
And just like your One Piece reactions should include a "oh my god" meter I think this show should come with a Precious meter ^^

  2. This was the episode that made me love the series, up to this point I loved the characters and the story were fun, with this episode it took both characters so seriously and applied so much care in showing how good they are as individuals but how much better they are together, it's just such excellent story telling.

  3. First time we see Gojo’s chad switch. When he ties his headband and gets really serious about getting that work done, mmmm chef’s kiss! This is my favorite anime couple of all time.

  4. While this series has some ecchi scenes, I'd differentiate them from fanservice in the sense that they are (almost) always relevant to the story. The author of the manga, Shinichi Fukuda, is known for doing some pretty mature content; this series is quite a bit tamer than some of her other manga.

  5. This was the episode where I really fell for Gojo. For Marin, it was earlier. I started to really notice her in ep1 when she immediately helps Gojo with cleaning up the classroom when others abandoned Gojo. =]

  6. Notice as they become more comfortable with each other the fan service becomes less. When she is just being herself he becomes comfortable in her presence and starts to really see her. Don't know if I explained this well but I know what I mean😂.

  7. Loved the reaction and I love this manga/anime (is in my personal top 3, just after Oregairu and Steins; Gate).

Regarding the fan service, I don't intend to tell people what they should like, but I find kind of backward that most of the time, many just fall in the bigot logic: Fan Service -> Shallow/ Jouvenile / Not something a "respectable" person should watch -> It's Bad; whitout even knowing what the story is about (let alone watching it).
It's relevant to Bisque Doll/My dress up Darling, because it's a story that pushes forward the message that you should be yourself and follow your passion (as long as is it not nefarious ofc) and not get dragged around by peer pressure, which is the perfect message that would most benefit those people who fall into the aforementioned logic.

P.S. I really loved your reaction, it reminds me that there still some nice people out there. This is coming from a 45 old "boy" who passed his youth being called cringe by girls because I have a soft spot for this kind of stuff.

  8. I love how this show doesn't let the fact that Gojo managed to cosplay overshadow that it's not good and that no one was happy knowing what he went through.

Marin and Gojo talking about where they both went wrong in the situation is one of the things that makes me love this show.

  9. I just want to say I love your attitude towards fan service. The vibe is just so chill, funny, and It makes me feel like I can enjoy your reactions to anything 🙂

  10. AHHHHHHHHH ITS HERE I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
yes i understand that there's a fanservice grab to get views, but i think if you're focusing on that you're missing the whole point of the show: two FUCKING ADORABLE PEOPLE LEARNING TO LOVE EACH OTHER AND THEMSELVES
    ITS AWESOME
    I LOVE THEM

  11. Gojo is such a good lesson on why you cannot let people-pleasers go off on their own. my mother is the same way, and i have SEEN the stress build on her until she breaks its not good. IF YOU'RE FEELING OVERWHELMED BY EXPECTATIONS AND PROMISES, PLEASE DONT BE AFRAID TO TELL PEOPLE THAT YOU NEED MORE TIME
it is PERFECTLY NORMAL to need extra breathing room to help balance the chaos of life, never lock yourself away from the people that can help you with that

COMMUNICATION IS KEY, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE TALK TO PEOPLE IF YOU NEED TO I GUARANTEE THEY WIL UNDERSTAND

  12. Gojo makes clothes and he does hair and makeup.
    And he's good at it.

Most cosplayers would kill for a friend like that.

  13. I've watched a number of reactions to this series, and it seems pretty universal — people fall for Marin almost immediately, but by this point, everyone has fallen for Gojou.

Though his line in the depths of his despair — "I just totally half-ass everything" — always strikes me as bitterly funny, because he doesn't half-ass anything . That's almost precisely the opposite of his problem. (Marin, on the other hand, kind of does, and that's part of why they make such a good pair; his overprecision and her easy winging-things confidence balance each other out.)

  14. During the next episode it will have been only TWO weeks since they went shopping. I can't see the arts room being very long before that.

  15. I'm of two minds about fanservice. On the one hand, even from when I was a kid I appreciated animation that was more realistic and proportioned and less abstract/"cartoony." And this was back in the 70's when ANY animation more complex than a still frame was rare. Cartoons like Thundercats or Galaxy Rangers that depicted female lead characters that were both capable and physically attractive definitely appealed to me. (And both series were anime inspired, so there's that)

So when there started to be an emphasis on "breast physics" in 90's anime, I didn't see it as fanservice, I saw it as animation just getting more realistic. Sure, it can get excessive, but isn't that why you put women in bikinis in live action movies? I prefer taking the time to add a minimum of breast physics to making it look like your female characters all have implants.

On the other hand, I do recognize that there are all the panty shots and crazy camera angles in anime. So it's something that can be taken too far. When it works, to me, is when the fanservice is in service to the plot. Here, it puts you into Gojo's head, you can feel how mind- numbingly attractive he finds Marin, but it makes him flustered and embarrassed. He doesn't yet have the confidence to see himself as worthy of her. And Marin, of course, is just such a free spirit that she doesn't hide anything.

I think your attitude towards fanservice is really refreshing. You hear from a lot of people who are disturbed or put off, and that's just fine. But it's also nice to hear from someone who can laugh at it and see it as just another part of the show.
