Ai can be and and is a better version of what humans are capable of.
AI can create the look of a cosplay but it can’t recreate the pride that you feel once your labor of love is finally finished
I find any ai slop so uninteresting, like why would i let a machine generate something lifeless with no thought or effort behind rather than watching a human make that from scratch. I am not a cosplayer but its always so cool to see people make characters that i love come to life so it just feels pointless to have ai do that

We've been warned about the effects of pollution to the environment and dangers of us not reducing our consumption since the 1990s. It's been 30+ years. People don't care because AI makes their lives easier, even if it means they're killing the planet

The did you bring protection one really looks like it was 100% meant to be a joke, and it probably never occurred to them that anyone wouldn't realize the outfits were AI generated. One out fit, sure. Two outfits, maybe, three outfits just for a joke, more? No one has time for that.
I've never once intentionally used generative AI, and I only use apps and search engines that are completely generative AI free – so it really, really confuses me how people are still using it? Like, why? What is its purpose? I can't wait until it goes the way of 3D films and NFTs.
I still remember my first cosplay, Diane from Seven Deadly Sins. In retrospect, I was wayy too naive to understand the problems with that anime and it's romance themes, but the amount of pride and joy I had from finding the tackiest bright silky orange pants and top to customize into her jumpsuit will never compare to any cosplay I have done or will do. I used my own natural hair and hodgepodge of pillow, old belt and scarf for her accessories. That's what made me fall in love with cosplay; the journey of making the piece, trying to be screen accurate, and learning for next time. I haven't made any new cosplays recently that I really poured my heart into, and instead that energy is going to my husband who is interested in doing some complex cosplays. AI is merely a dank shadow of what cosplay means to the community.
As a cosplayer, I feel this tip needs to be stated:

i thought one of the main points of cosplay as a hobby was taking fictional/fantastical designs from things like video games and anime where they can afford to be unrealistic, and then figuring out how to pull that off tangibly irl? like it defeats the purpose if its just an ai image. you aren't making a fake thing tangible, and you aren't even playing dress up with your friends, which is the other main reason for cosplay. with ai you're doing neither. you're just catfishing and content farming. I already didn't like that cosplay was becoming more of an influencer space, but between that and now this ai shit, it almost makes me wish that otaku culture didn't blow up so much during the pandemic tbh.
so far hardest cosplay I've done is my Wally darling cosplay. takes a LOT of yellow lmfao
but also: guys be whatever you want! without the AI of course! I've done a lot of Homestuck cosplays and I'm not ashamed!

AI used in this way horrible… AI was suppose to be used as an Assistant/Tool, not a complete supplant for genuine human creation.

Immediate red flags. Plus, that email definitely would've been ai generated too. I also think most of those comments might be bots or fake accounts to boost the post since they also had AI-generated profile pictures.
It sure is weird that the same people who shame others for making art and investing in things they love are the ones that will use ai for anything and everything, while still shaming the people who refuse to use ai. It's all people with ugly souls wanting attention and gratification without any work or effort.
