Silent Hill f cosplay weathering

I’m making a Suku cosplay from the new Silent Hill F. And for the heavy weathering work, I got help from my friend Maya. Last time I showed you how I sold this beautiful, clean shrine garment, but Suku’s clothing is heavily weathered, and it even looks like it’s kind of molding in places. The first step was to add a variety of brown and gray tones. Here we are applying oil to the edges of the garment. And yeah, we had a lot of fun. As you can see, there’s a big hole in the back of the costume. And instead of cutting it with scissors, it looks so much better when you use a mini belt center. The whole weathering process is really just layer after layer, paint, oils, and water. Maya used a bunch of different tools, a blow dryer to test how the colors look when dry, and a sponge to create this amazing patina. I’m honestly in love with this technique. You can get so many cool patterns and textures depending on how much paint you use and how wet the sponge is. I’d say an airbrush is essential for any weathering project. It’s perfect for adding shadows, depth, and subtle highlights. When it comes to distressing fabric, there are a lot of tools you can use. My personal favorite is the steel brush, and Maya’s favorite is the mini belt sander. And the combo of both make the fabric look like you’ve been wearing it for centuries. The distressed ends needed a little bit more color. And then the weathering on the white overcoat was done. Just look at this absolutely stunning patina. Sakoku’s outfit is based on traditional Shinto shrine clothing, and those often have an ornamental design painted onto the fabric. So, I made a bunch of stencils. I think it’s supposed to be a crosanthinum, often called Japan’s national flower. It symbolizes the imperial family and is associated with longevity. Adding the flower pattern was the final step to finish the chihaya, and it turned out so perfect. This patina on the fabric, I’m obsessed. But the weathering journey wasn’t over yet. Maya also weathered the white under rope with the waistband. And the skirt needed a lot of effort, too. The skirt fabric was super tricky because it’s so thick. It absorbed literally every color Maya put on it. But with a lot of patience and a lot of paint, it slowly started to look just like the reference. I love this moldy patina. It’s spoton. And then it was finally done. Maya is truly a weathering master. The entire weathering process, plus adding the flower design, took six full days. So, I’ve still got about one week left to work on the face prosthetics and the halo. See you in the next video.
