You are my favorite YouTuber, love your content so much!
with how fast it seems fandoms cycle through it's nice to see the effort made to get more life out of a costume you've already made. disney has a little more staying power than the average waifu of the moment, but still. good to see.
You did a great job fixing your bodice issues. I probably would have just put it in the back of my closet and forgot about it and found another costume to wear. or just wear it as is.
Lower the arms eye. I know it’s low on your list, but I didn’t tell the woman who altered my wedding dress that a bone was just barely stabbing me, and I was u comfortable by the end of the main course.
Before you fixed it looks like something I'm going to avoid of a costume store❤😔,😮🎉
Hey there, love your content! Honestly, I think the fit is still off. Is this bodice supposed to flatten your bust, because thats what looks odd. Flat boobs, lol! Also, the cap sleeve size seems off, as if its not full enough, and it seems to high on the shoulder. Could be I'm not really understanding the design…keep up the great work!
Rebecca, you've really transformed it, brilliant work. But you HAVE to fix those armscyes, it just doesn't honour your work at all seeing those creases. You need to scoop out the armscye not necessarily drop it under the arm so the steel boning is probably fine. If you watch the last minute or so of the video you'll see it becomes more and more obvious. I am so sorry, it is SUCH an annoying issue!

I watched this while unpicking seams to alter a dress I made two years ago; very fitting!
It's amazing how the hips were 'too tight', not because they didn't physically fit, but because they were sort of 'holding up' the rest of the bodice; and how letting them out (as much as their seam allowance could go) allowed the rest of the bodice to 'relax' enough to fall lower, so there wasn't as much gaping at the top front. It really goes to show how, on a structured garment, adjusting one area can completely change the fit of the whole thing.
I appreciate the unpacking of "Here's how you can tell what's off and needs to change". For example, with the boning stabbing the armpit, someone new to this bodice structure could just conclude "the boning is too long" rather than "the armhole is too small (and the boning might also be too long)". Or the difference in rigidity between flat steel vs spiral steel boning and how that affected how supporting those channels were.
Omg the fit looks so much better with the adjustments! This video is such good incentive to do alterations on a garment that doesn’t fit quite right.
If you remember (which I understand if you don't), did you have any issues getting past security at WDW in that? I wear an 1860's corset as a daily support garment after a back injury last year and always change into Regency short stays made with synthetic boning anytime there's a metal detector because I really don't want to have to explain my underwear to security. But if corsetry doesn't actually pose an issue with steel boning… well, let's just say Disney Springs strolls will be more comfortable.
13:55 that seam finish is so pretty in there!
Looks amazing now. Good luck on all the other bits and bobs needed to fully complete all your outfits.
Wow – that does look good. I had never heard of or seen the movie until I was asked to make one for a friends daughter – for her yr music band dinner (high school years 6 to 10), – it was dizney themed. She was tiny – but i really studied the dress in the movie, did some very creative structural work…heavily boned, 6 corset panels front and back each, the sleeves were a dead ringer for the movie dress… the laces at the front were fake to keep it stable but I has pear buttons down the back, and lots of detail on the skirt etc. Anyway, at the dinner some of the younger girls came up to her and asked where she got the GENUINE dress….haaaa – they thought it was the real dress from the animated movie! that was gold, very funny. But she was an awesome Repunzel, with the wig, and a frypan in hand she looked the real deal! She asked me tho during a fitting "Wow, youre a genius – why dont you do this for a job?". I then asked "would you like to pay $1200 for this…" After choking, I explained that at Australian min wage, plus fabric (silk gave me the best results, but they were small pieces) this is a full 40 hours work. Going to comic con, or other events, ppl put weeks if not months into the work, so, yeah I would adjust it too! just beautiful!
Sad news. Joann was sold to liquidator. All stores to close in the next few months. Could you make a video of your alternate places for finding fabrics, trims, notions….. I am lost. 😢
What if you made a Hamerton costume for a revolutionary era American Doll?!?
I'm just impressed that something you made in 2015 still fits! The body can change so much in 10 yrs.😉
Great!! Oh, and I love that sweater!!!❤❤❤❤
What I noticed as a profound improvement after you widened the hips was how much better the lacing looks. Good job! I do think the armscyes need more attention, if you have the time.
Oh, those moments when we have to ask Past Me, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?????
