      Hello Lauren, I want to apologize for the lengthy comment. I've always been fascinated with this dress. I'm still learning the different styles of fashion in the 18th century and I always was curious of the era of this dress because the style is so unique. do you think it may have been an earlier style basically what vintage would look like in the 18th century because the style kinda reminds me of late 17th century very early 18th century because it looks very much like before the pannier era around the time when the long curly hair wigs men wore were more in style before we got the iconic powdered wigs. I remember when this movie first came out a lot of people were saying this was a fantasy dress the style didn't exist but I recall seeing this style of dress in portraits but in an earlier era which makes me think it is an actual garment but out of style around the timeframe when Elizabeth wore it.
